Purple is the rarest color in varsity outerwear generally, and at cropped length it is close to unique. It is dark enough to behave like a neutral from a distance and saturated enough to be clearly a choice up close.

Gold and cream lettering suit it best — both warm tones that lift the purple rather than fighting it. White works but flattens the color slightly, and black tends to disappear into it.
